Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) for Faster Healing

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) for Faster Healing

About Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Platelet rich plasma is a by-product of blood that is extremely rich in platelets and helps accelerate the body’s own healing process. PRP is available at Aurora Periodontal to promote faster healing and reduce pain.

You may have heard of Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy Procedure, or PRP, associated with athletes of all sports in need of quick recovery with minimal pain.  Platelet Rich Plasma is a method used by surgeons that takes about an ounce of your own blood which is placed in a centrifuge and spun down to concentrated blood platelets. The concentrated platelets found in PRP contain huge reservoirs of bioactive proteins, including growth factors that are vital to initiate and accelerate tissue repair and regeneration.  These platelets are added right into the extraction socket.

  • Ideal for patients in need of extractions, bone grafting, and gum tissue regeneration
  • Reduces pain significantly
  • Accelerates healing
  • Results in better quality of regenerated bone and gum tissue

What does the treatment involve?

A small sample (approximately 1 ounce) of your own blood will be collected and placed in a centrifuge to separate the plasma from the red blood cells.  After extraction or procedure, Dr. Dayan will apply the PRP to the surgical area to expedite your healing and minimize discomfort.  Aurora Periodontal will provide post-operative care instructions pertaining to your procedure.

Our patients have told us they are amazed by their comfortable and fast recovery period.
